Demantoit Garnet

Basic Information

Demantoit is a green garnet or the star of the green garnets. Demantoit means ‘diamond like’ and makes reference to the outstanding quality of this garnet. Demantoit is one of the most expensive garnets and one of the most precious of all gemstones.

This garnet produces a spectrum of colours from slightly yellowish green to brownish greens with a golden glow, very rarely do we find Demantoit that is a deep emerald green. The Demantoit Garnet is very well suited to being used in jewellery due to their hardness of just under 7 on the Mohs scale.

Locations Found

This gem is found is Namibia and inside Russia’s Ural mountain range.
