Iolite

Seafaring Vikings used to use Iolite to filter the haze and glare from their eyes and Iolite aided these fearless warriors in navigating the vast oceans upon which they sailed. The name Iolite comes from the Greek word “los” which means violet.
Iolite is commonly cut into traditional shapes with the most desirable colour to be a rich violet-blue. This gemstone has widespread popularity for its beauty and its attractive affordability.
Locations Found
lolite is mined in India, Sri Lanka, Africa and Brazil and can be obtained in sizes up to 4 to 5 carats reasonably easily, although much larger gems have been found.
